This work presents the complete seventh series of the fiendishly funny award-winning comedy, starring Andy Hamilton, Annette Crosbie and Timothy West. Jean Paul Sartre said, 'Hell is other people'. But, as Satan will tell you, Hell is actually a fiery, unendingly cruel domain where Oliver Reed can never quite catch the barman's eye and Yves St Laurent is forced to wear a donkey jacket. But Hell is about to become more hellish for Satan himself (Andy Hamilton). Not only is the historian Edith Barrington (Annette Crosbie) taking for ever to write his biography, "An Angel Misunderstood", but everything is thrown into confusion when a dog turns up. Animals aren't meant to end up in Hell because they're not evil - well, except for dolphins of course. So why is it here? After much licking, begging and slobbering - mainly from Scumspawn - Satan decides to keep the dog and ask God (Timothy West) what is going on. But God has decided to go on a gap year to find himself. And Hell receives another, even more inexplicable guest...This work contains all six episodes from the seventh series of BBC Radio 4's Sony Award-winning comedy set in Hell.

Customer Reviews
This is hell, not Jim'll Fix It!
I have to say that I was very impressed with this series- hot off the press (so to speak) in 2009. In these sad times, a bit of contemporary sniping at bankers who don't think they will suffer eternal retribution (well they get away with everything else) and the Home Office losing a hard drive with confidential information..is handled with sharpened wit. It'll be something to look back on with affection, when everyone starts behaving sensibly!
Something is going horribly wrong in hell- heaven has installed new software and a baby and a dog unexpectedly turn up for eternal damnation. God's off on a sabbatical and has delegated power to some angels who refuse to take any decisions. The usual gang of Edith the Historian, Scumspawn the devil and Thomas the repulsive, nag Satan that he ought to make sure that two innocents get restored to life, even if the dog keeps thinking the Lord of Hell is a tree. Plagued by Joan of Arc's rebellion and a confident Russian businessman, who tries to bribe Satan, it doesn't look as though Satan is ever going to get a glowing biography written for him, even if he is becoming a dab hand at creating compromising pictures in Photoshop (I thought all the problems I had with CS3 under Vista must have diabolical origins). How will he persuade the Almighty to rectify things, without getting damned again?
This was utterly delicious- can we have the full versions of series 3 and 4, please?!
laughter all the way
I never get tired of listening to "Old Harry's Game" If only it were true that hell is as funny as this then we'd all have something to look forward to???
Funniest UK Radio Series running
Andy Hamilton inverts our usual view of the world and presents
the situation of a much-maligned Satan, struggling to properly
administer hell in a universe where God seems to have
has lost interest in his creation and the wheels are regularly
falling off the cart of cosmic-order.
Assisted in him in this task are Scumspawn, a soft-hearted and headed
demon, Thomas an extremely venal damned soul, Edith the sharp-tongued
historian and a cast of bit parts ranging from the Archangel Gabriel,
Baby Patrick to the Almighty himself.
He manages to be both amusing and pertinent, challenging religeous
mores and concepts without being offensive. All this done in an extremely
droll and dry fashion.
Simply the most consistently funny series on UK radio.
