Customer Reviews
A useful book for the 'hard-pressed' researcher.
This book is good for students as an introduction to all aspects of action research methodology or as a refresher for people returning to study on Degree, Masters and Doctorate courses. It is easy to read and for those students stretched for time, gives a good overview of action research.
The book is divided into two parts, the first covers the basics of action research and focuses the reader on the terms used, the action research cycle, the role of the 'insider' action researcher and the complexities of undertaking action research within your own organisation.
The second part looks at the implementation of the action research project. This deals with issues that may arise and the importance of managing internal politics. This section gives an outline of the implementation process and covers the ethics and politics of action research. It also looks at the strengths and weaknesses of such research.
At the end of many chapters there are useful exercises, which summarises through helpful questions, what needs to be addressed before and during each stage of the action research project, including writing-up the research.
Conclusion - A useful book for the 'hard-pressed' researcher.
