Product Description

Meet the Fantastic Four: Reed Richards ('Mr. Fantastic') - leader of the group. A gifted idealist, he can stretch, expand, or compress into any contiguous shape - amazing elasticity matched only by his genius. Sue Storm ('The Invisible Woman') - Wife of Reed Richards and older sister of Johnny Storm. She can render herself and other objects invisible, and is able to project powerful invisible force fields. Johnny Storm ('The Human Torch') - Brother of Sue Storm. The Human Torch can create and engulf himself in varying degrees of plasma fire, can also emit fiery bolts, and has the power of flight. Ben Grimm ('The Thing') - best friend of Reed Richards. A wise-cracking NASA pilot, The Thing is a creature of superhuman strength, endurance, and durability. After a freak accident aboard a test flight blasted them with radiation, permanently altering their genetic structures, four adventurers use their incredible powers for the good of mankind and to protect the world from the forces of evil...despite their real problems, worries, and arguments - just like any other family.

Customer Reviews

more action than the movie4
I came upon this book when buying a book from the x-men series off amazon. I bought it because i haven't read much about the fantastic four and wasn't all that impressed by the films. But this book has changed my mind, it has action a good story line with great enemies and even scarier at times heroes. This book deosn't just reflect what a mother will do to protect her son but just how human the four super heroes are.The story starts out when richard reed is invited to give his advise on a science project experienting inter-dimensional travel. When things go wrong and two of earth's and the fantastic 4's enemie's get through the dimensional portal and the chaos starts from there. the mix of magic super-heroe abilities is an interesting context and grims comments on magic even funnier. Within this storyline you've got sub-plots with grim trying to date successfully and hell easy it can go wrong for a superheroe. Also Sue's job offer from the president makes you realise how much a family is effected by being the centre of media attention, very similar to our own celebrity culture. This book is great to read because it has the type of action and sci-fi you expect from marvel creations and also a lot of underlying meanings and homour that Peter David really did well.
