A 'must have' book for OT students!5
I bought this book a year ago and find it an invaluable resource for my OT degree. There are many books that discuss group dynamics (such as Finlay), but this provides very practice advice on planning and running groups. It discusses the essential steps that make a group truly therapeutic and also shows how such groups differ depending on the frame of reference that the therapist uses. It provides examples of group activities for each frame of reference and planning sheets (that can be photocopied), which ensure that underlying theories are considered. Having said this, I have also found this book useful when writing essays as it provides in-depth discussion of the principles of group work and not just a 'how to' workbook.
