A real testamony to artists working in two tones.
Here in brilliant black and white is an anthology of different styles of writing and artistry from the Batman universe, there is a general introduction at the beginning of the book and an shorter introduction to each of the artists or writers.

There are fantastic full page extracts from each style, generally before the story itself, a section with cover art and two page spread of artwork in its early stages.

All of which doesnt say a lot about the content of each tale, there are perspectives on crime fighting, forensics, detection, then other stories examinging history and context, some brilliant crime noir style imaginings and one or two excellent reworkings of classic early, early Batman stories familiar to any real fans of the Batman.

If you're a fan already or new to Batman comics you'll enjoy this collection equally well, if you're new to graphic novels or comic anthologies you couldnt go wrong beginning with this one. A real testamony to artists working in two tones.
