Original - and helpful!
This is a first. I have never seen a tarot book that dealt with advice. The run of the mill tarot books are usually aimed at a) divination, b) psychological self-evaluation and c) meditation. This, on the other hand, is designed to help one make choices on all manner of issues. Janina Renee's instructions are clear and easy to follow, even for a beginner - as she says, you don't have to have any prior knowledge of the tarot to use this book. I classify myself as intermediate but feel that all levels of tarot users would benefit from this book. It can be used for straightforward queries, or after a tarot reading, to find out how best to deal with an even the cards have foreseen.

Although the interpretations usually refer to the card illustrations and meanings in the Rider-Waite, she uses a variety of tarot decks as illustrations, and the interpretations are general enough to enable the use of most tarot decks. She also gives guidelines for courts, genders and reversals. Each card is given between one and two pages of interpretations.

There are three appendices - one deals with a brief overview of the tarot's history and use. The second, for the more mystically inclined, is a rite to Fortuna - Goddess of Tarot. The third outlines the Celtic Cross spread - she details this for those who are unfamiliar with it. She does this because she mentions in her guidelines for interpretation that cards seven through nine can be reinterpreted in terms of advice after using the spread for an overview of one's situation.

Outstanding!
This book has to be used to be fully appreciated. I thought it sounded like a novel idea when I saw it, so I bought it. I read through the first introductory bit, then decided to use it.
Maybe it does not answer your questions for you right away, all the time, but have a think what you've and it will direct you, I promise!
I have had a lot of good stuff from this book, and would recommend it to anyone who loves Tarot.
