Product Description

Many people remember playing dots and boxes as children, drawing a line across two dots, waiting your turn and trying to complete a box. The one left with the most boxes when the grid is filled, is declared the winner. Like many games, dots and boxes may be played at many levels of sophistication and in this title, it serves as an introduction to mathematical game theory. The title is a guide to the game and its mathematical underpinnings. Chapters on strategy are interspersed with 100 sample problems and their strategic solutions.

Customer Reviews

A great book for anyone interested in this classic game5
This book is a great introduction to the strategies of the game of dots and boxes, starting from the very basic stuff like double crossing and moving on to advanced stuff. It uses little formal mathematics, making it easy to follow for the non-mathmatician. On the other hand it would be of much interest to those studying game theory. It also include loads of puzzles to solve, so that you can improve your play, and beat all of your friends!
