Excellent Manga
Basically, Astro Boy is the hero of Osama Tezuka's most famous Manga. A Robot Boy who has 100,000 horsepower of strength, and five 'secret' powers, to the reader they're not exactly secret, as such. First written in 1951, Tezuka envisions the future in the early 21st Century, a time where robots are everywhere but are in a constant struggle against robot haters. However, there are many other themes throughout the series.
Volume 1 of Astro Boy is not as you would expect, rather than publishing the series chronologically, the series is rumbled, mainly to make the series more accessible, especially first time Astro readers.
What makes book one so worthwhile is that it's thicker than most editions, due to having a very interesting introduction, and even better, a short introduction from Tezuka himself re-capping Astro Boy's creation.
Throughout the series readers will be treated to a great mixture of action, humour and genuine sentiment all presented with Tezuka's excellent ability to create coherent stories that anyone can enjoy.
Astro Boy
This book is the 1st in the series of translated books of Astro Boy. The legendary series written by Osamu Tezuka is about a robot created, then abandoned by his maker.
I'm not a really big fan of manga so can't compare this to other Japanese comics but I really love Astro Boy. If you want a comic that is relatively easy to read buy this first book in the series.
