Limited for UK smoothie fans4
The recipes are indeed delicious. With evocative names like "Berry Cranberry", "Orange Raz Frosty" and "Java Smoothie", your mouth starts watering the first time you flick through it. Its spiral binding is nice, as the book lies open flat at the page you're using while you make the smoothies. The coated card used for the pages is also splash-resistant - very useful if you're making smoothies with children.

HOWEVER, all but one of the recipes require the use of frozen fruit. Frozen fruit is not a supermarket staple in the UK as it is in the USA -- and I have tried all the major chains. Sure, you can get frozen strawberries and mixed "forest fruits" quite easily, but frozen mango? Frozen papaya? Nor is "vanilla frozen yogurt" available in the UK, and this occurs in many recipes -- vanilla ice cream makes a delicious substiture, although no longer low fat.

You can do substitutions of course, or use fresh fruit, though the effect is quite different. This, plus the American "cup" measurement instead of fluid ounces or millilitres would make the book offputting if given as a gift to an older child or teen, who realises that they simply don't have these ingredients to hand and don't recognise the measurements.

A lovely book, but I had to use the recipes on a trip to the USA to get the full benefit ...

Fantastic!5
I love the book " Smoothies" by Anne Akers Johnson. Smoothies are the new "craze" in our town . They are so expensive to buy at the smoothie "cafe's", so I decided I wanted to make my own.. This book has 22 recipes that are all absolutely delicious! I recomend that you buy it, now!

Smoothies rock my world!5
I never knew how much I liked smoothies until I bought this book. One taste of the splendorific Strawberry-Banana smoothie and I was HOOKED. This is probably the best cookbook in my entire household. Buy it. Now.
