Amazon.co.uk Review
Yoga for the hands--sounds too good to be true. Do it at the office, on an aeroplane, lying in bed. Seasoned yoga teacher Gertrud Hirschi has used these hand postures to ease asthma, relieve flu symptoms, think more effectively, relieve tension, even have a bowel movement. The possibilities she attributes to these ancient Indian techniques are endless. Join the tips of the index finger and thumb: this clears the mind. Switch the thumb to the little finger: this restores the body's fluid balance. It's not quite that easy, of course. Hirschi is careful to lay out exercise regimens, related herbal remedies, and associated affirmations. Like a classroom instructor, she guides with simultaneous breathing advice and conjures up helpful images. From building character to healing emotional pain, from bringing luck to connecting with the divine, mudras can work wonders. Now limber up those digits and let's get into spiritual shape. --Brian Bruya, Amazon.com

An in depth account of mudras
The author has packed a lot of detailed explanation of mudras into this book. The instructions are easy to understand and the diagrams clear. The index did seem a little lacking given the subjects covered in the book. It can take quite a bit of reading to find the mudras one needs. It is nice the author mentions compementary use of other natual health system to complement the mudras. A valuable book to anyone who wants to know more about mudras.
Great book
The index is indeed very inadequate, but what a fantastic book otherwise! I particularly like the affirmations included for each mudra, and the personal stories from the author's experiences. Using the mudras and affirmations is a great way to add variety to meditation practice. Also, this 'yoga for your hands' is ideal for people who are ill and unable to do more strenuous forms of yoga.
yoga in your hands
This book is easy to read and simple to understand. The hand Mudras are well illustrated and in the main easy to do.I use this book constantly, and first used it when recovering from a heart operation when other yoga exercises were not possible. The exercises really do relieve a number of complaints, from angina to blood pressure, the visualizations help in relaxation and meditation, and I generally go to sleep at night holding one of the poses. It is a book I never lend to anyone as I like to always have it at home, and I have bought copies as gifts, that have been greatly appreciated.
