Because my specialty is psychological assessment, I am distressed that so many people view tests as barriers--barriers that prevent them from getting into the college of their choice or receiving that all-important job offer. I prepared this book of Career Test to help readers overcome this hurdle. Yes, your test scores may keep you from receiving some job offers that you would have liked to receive, but they can also help you find the right match between your skills and personality and a job in which you can excell. I believe the tests in this book will give you a head start on your competition. I also included a number of tests that are essentially the same as those widely used by many major employers. By going through these tests, the entire process will seem less mysterious to you when you are applying for that all-important job, and because you feel more comfortable, you are likely to present yourself as you really are. Aimed very much at the American college leaving market.
I was disappointed by this book mainly as the tests did not match up to the authors claims. I realised that this is a book designed for young American college or school leavers who have never had a full time job and have no idea what they want to do. As such it is not nearly detailed enough in the information/suggestions that you get at the end of each test (some of which are poorly explained incidentally). Suffice to say after a good few evenings spent doing all the tests I really had not learnt a great deal about where I should be heading next. I will be looking for more books in this area, but my advice is leave this book alone if you are older than a teenager.
