A book to read on a rainy afternoon
I received this book for Christmas, and could not put it down till I finished... I found myself looking into my own soul, with the things that happened to this woman.. It is a book you can learn to live your own life through, the struggles she endured, and the outcome that lead to her living her life, through acceptence of who she was, and the peace of mind she finally came to realize that had been there all along.. It is a book of devotion, love and wisdom..I highly endorse this book to read on a rainy, snowy, or sunny afternoon.

A chronicle of self-respect, honesty, honor, and victory.
These are my thoughts after reading this book. Laurel has written one of the finest books I have read in many years. Thank you for publishing it. I could not believe this was Laurel's first book. She wrote with so much maturity and honesty that I found myself rereading several sections of the book. With all honesty after I finished the book I searched for a comparison to another book or author I had read before (I often do this). Only one came to mind. Ernest Hemingway's Old Man and the Sea. Now that is quite a leap comparing a first time author to a legendary icon like Ernest Hemingway. Maybe not. Several times while I was reading Laurel's book Hemingway's Old Man and the Sea kept coming back to me. First of all both are not large books. Both evoke emotions of a very personal nature. There is the old man and the battle within himself against the fish he was locked in combat with. There is Laurel and the battle within her mind against herself. Both were very personal and touching and both were books I was unable to put down until they were finished. I often think back to the effect that Old Man and the Sea have had on my life. I know Laurel's The Grass Dance will be the same. Both deal with self-respect, honesty and honor and in the end - victory! Thank you, Donald P. McCarthy
