Glimpse of another time, another world4
The Quest for Freedom is a personal narrative written by a resistance fighter from Antwerp, Belgium, who sheltered airmen, helped blow up trains and saved the lives of her colleagues by remaining silent under torture and interrogation in the weeks before Antwerp was liberated by the allies.

This is a personal account, and it doesn't go into the causes of war, or the psychology of the resistance, or even characterising the author's colleagues. In some ways it leaves as many questions as it answers, as Madame Yvonne's own story criss-crosses with so many others.

A rewarding read, nonetheless, honestly set down without self-agrandisement.

Recommended to anyone who wants to explore from a different perspective the years of the second World War.
