A Classic.5
Alfred H Burne has written a book that has been unsurpassed since it's original publishing in 1955. The Crecy War is part one of a two book series, the other being The Agincourt War, in which Lt Col Alfred Burne covers every Battle and major skirmish between England and France during the Hundred Years War. He identifies the ground where the fighting takes place, and with some detailed research into the contemporary chronicles, informs the reader of tactics and numbers involved and killed during each conflict. The Crecy War takes in the Campaigns in Brittany and the Battle of Morlaix before moving on to Crecy, Mauron, the Grand Chevauchee of Edward, Black Prince of Wales, Poitiers and finishes with a look at France after the treaty of Bretigny in 1360. This book has recently become available in paperback for the first time in years and originally cost in the region of £40. Buy it, it's a bargain !
