Jenny Sparks quest to bring together The Authority5
If you have ever wondered how The Authority came to be the World Saving group we all know and love, then this is the book for you. It follows the beautiful, chain smoking, foul mouthed Jenny Sparks as she brings together the diverse individuals who make up The Authority. Basically it charts the origins of the city dwelling Jack Hawksmoor, the high flying Shen, the Engineer (the woman with nine pints of nanomachines in place of blood), the drug taking Doctor and the loving couple of the Midnighter and Apollo. This is a great book - funny in places, touching in others and as action packed as you expect The Authority crew to be. John McCrea's artwork (Hitman, The Monarchy) is stupendous and fits the bizarre characters and situations Mark Millar gives him to portray. If you like great super-hero tales with a twist and a hint of the real world then give this a try. Give it a try even if you don't like those things. Well written, well drawn. A gem!
