Product Description

In the Termight Empire, the Grand Inquistor Torquemada rules with an iron fist, his slogan, "Be Pure, Be Vigilant, Behave" an article of faith to his legions, who stamp out alien life and culture wherever they find it. One alien stands in their way - mysterious, lethal, striking when he's least expected, with maximum effect. He is the leader of the resistance organisation, Credo. His name is Nemesis, the Warlock, and his mission is vengeance - and freedom! From the classic British creative team of Pat Mills (Judge Dredd, Slaine, A.B.C. Warriors, Marshal Law) and Kevin O'Neill (A.B.C. Warriors, Marshal Law, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) comes the ultimate tale of futuristic rebellion!

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Many polemics against the human capacity for intolerance make a virtue of realism, emphasising how close to home such issues come. Pat Mills's Nemesis the Warlock adopts a slightly different approach, incorporating a literally draconian alien, metaphorically draconian space-Inquisitors and an insanely intricate hollow future Earth. This makes it significantly less likely to win any major prizes from awards bodies on the lookout for anything earnest and weighty, but also means it's significantly less dull than, say, Monster's Ball.

Death to All Aliens contains the shorts which featured the original appearance of Nemesis and his, well, nemesis, Torquemada, plus the first two books of the saga proper and an appendix of sorts concerning his living craft, the Blitzspear. It's an admirably thorough and handsomely-produced hardback, and a fitting format for some of 2000AD's finest material, in which classic catchphrases such as "Be pure! Be vigilant! Behave!" first appeared. The prequels and Book One are drawn by Kevin O'Neill, perhaps best known nowadays for his work with Alan Moore on League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and though his work here is less stylised, it still has the attention to physical and emotional detail for which he's celebrated.

Jesus Redondo's not such a famous name, but his work on Book Two is of a similarly high standard; most remarkably, he even manages to make giant spiders sympathetic characters. This relaxed style is perfect for the book which goes a little deeper into the motivations of humanity's xenophobic Terminators and the alien resistance, especially after the breakneck action of the prequels and Book One. Between the two, this collection is ideal either as an introduction to Nemesis, or a pleasing artefact for the dedicated fan. --Alex Sarll

Customer Reviews

One of the best 2000AD storys ever!!4
Having read countless 2000 AD stories in the past, this has to be one of the best graphic novels to spring from the comic books pages- it reprints the first comics that Nemesis appeared in- and its one of those books that once you start reading you and can't put down. If your a fan of 2000AD or want something different to the usual X-Men, Spiderman story- give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
