When Scott Floyd, a friend of Bruce Wayne's, is badly burned in a Gotham City restaurant, Batman investigates and soon finds himself drawn into a decade-old conspiracy. Who is the mysterious firestarter, Max Kai? Why are both the CIA and International Operations after him? And what is the connection between Scott Floyd and the mysterious assassin known as Deathblow? batman & who?
The biggest problem with this book is the difficulty in switching between stories, 1 of good old Bats, the other of the character Deathblow. Individually both stories are very good, with Batman in his pre-Robin (in fact pre- a lot of Bat gadgets) days and Deathblow as a Punisher style gunslinger with a high badguy bodycount - but with a lot of the same characters in both stories and switching from one to the other without always having a "ten years ago" caption, things can be confusing. Both stories are very well written however and so can be enjoyable and worth owning.
One Of The Best Batman Stories
This has to be one of the best Batman stories Ive read, action packed from panel to panel.
This is a must read Batman story !
Batman/Deathblow - good read, fantastic art
I bought this book second hand after being frustrated with it's "new" price tag. it was definitely worth the £12.
"Joker" has made me a fan of Bermejo's style and this comic doesn't disappoint. The attention to detail and realism portrayed in each slide is awesome. Batman looks like some sort of ripped up wrestler/rambo/phantom. Every page could be a front cover on it's own.
The story is good. The plot follows a villain who shows up and starts blowing stuff/people up. Batman starts to investigate and the story jumps between present day (batman hunting this guy) and 10 yrs ago when the fella was hunted by a black ops guy code named Deathblow (hard as nails)...
i read previously that the time jumps were confusing, but i found them pretty easy to follow and the the story came together nicely.
this book doesn't add much to the cannon but if you want a good batman story with STUNNING art then this is for you.
