Promising But not Enough
Dont get me wrong i love Batman to death and i love Jeph Loebs writing like batman darkvictory i mean that was 300 plus pages had great artwork and fantastic story Hush shows all the sighns of a great story but im sorry 128 pages just is not enough. This is a 12 issue epic they should just waited for all 12 to be collected in one volume not 5 and for 20 plus pounds its just not worth it. The art by Lee is stunning and the story of a kiddnapping and a person no one nos behind wot loosk liek a master plan of some sort is great but this just needs to be longer. Just wait for volume 2 to come out and by them both so you get the full story and you wont be so gutted to have to wait for the second part of this promising title as i was.
good book but too short for the price
A very good book. The art work is very good with a adult look to it and lots of appropriate colour. The book contains alot of action and also a good story line showing that Batman is indeed a man and not an immortal super hero. here you see him get HURT.. and is left vulnerable. It also lets you get the chance to see more of his gadgets.. Even one which stops a gang of muggers from removing his cowl when hes lying dying in an alleyway. It shows that even though hes only human, he makes up for other super heroes powers with his own technological advances and also his group of allies.
Its also contains strong and realistic plot lines. His fight with superman could have been a stupid farce but is done in such a way thats its comparable to the epic battle in the 'Dark Knight Returns' Batman genuinely looks scared when he realises that superman could very quickly kill him with no problems. HIw does he survive.. well you'll have to read the book!!
However the story is far too short. Although not an epic tale, it could have been extended. I finished the book very quickly and wanted more. Overall a good tale and a very good looking book. If it was longer I would give it an extra star. But a good reccomendation never the less. we'll just have to wait for volume 2 for the next part!!
Far Too Expensive
Great art, good story, but nearly £20.00 for such a short book just isn't justified.
The recommended dollar retail price on the back cover is just under $20 - since when has £1 = $1.
This book is not good value for money. There are plenty of other Batman graphic novels out there for half the price which are three times or more as long.
