Synopsis
Between 1946 and the mid-1950s, when the newly invented turboprop and turbojet began to replace piston power, some of the most impressive airliners ever built graced the skies. This work captures many of those beautiful aircraft in colour photographs.
Customer Reviews
A missed opportunity: great photos, many poorly reproduced
Really looked forward to receiving this book, as it promised some great shots from the late 1950s onwards. Whoever scanned the transparencies, however, either did a poor job or the original scans (prints even?) were not top quality. Many are discoloured, grainy or bleached out in the highlights, and one (Overseas DC-4M on page 36) has even been stretched (a dtp mess-up rather than a problem with the orinigal scan by the look of it). Some shots are great, and well-reproduced, but overall a disappointment.
