Product Description

This new third edition of 'Meteorology for Pilots' has been modified to satisfy all aspects of the meteorological requirements necessary to be JAR compliant. It also discusses the latest data concerning global warming and its consequences, especially in relation to the El Nino effect. For aviation the study of meteorology provides knowledge and awareness of the atmosphere, which is, after all, the medium within which the pilot works. A proper study of the subject will provide the basis that can enable a pilot to appreciate properly the weather forecast given to him for a flight - and indeed to forecast for himself. Technical aircraft safety is now approaching the highest standards, while safety affected by particular weather conditions remains a large problem. Clearly a proper study of meteorology can only assist the pilot in providing safe passages.

Great for all levels5
A helpful reference for all levels of training and experience. I must have for those in the field.

The textbook for Airline Transport Pilots Licence students5
This is the definitive textbook for students of the European JAA Airline Transport Pilots Licence theory exams Meteorology paper. All topics are covered in detail, complex topics are explained in simple terms.

The section on Climatology in particular is excellent - this is one of the hardest areas of the ATPL Meteorology exams - I would recommend that confused students read this section over and over with a world map in front of them. I found that on about the third or fourth read-through suddenly things started to make sense.

Easy to understand and helpful to students of its subject.5
I found Meterology for Pilots very easy to understand, with excellent diagrams. The coverage is comprehensivefor licence examimations. I particularly liked the sections on Aviation Hazards, Upper Winds Climatology, and Airborne Weather Radar.

Coverage of El Nino is a little sketchy but this can be rectified and improved in the next edition of a good book.
