A great book for nostalgia5
If you are an aircraft enthusiast of any kind , but more specifically an Airfix collector, this book will be of immense interest to you. It is a collection from the very well known artist Roy Cross, a very competent and gifted artist known for his work on the Airfix range of model kits. It not only features the older and well-loved box art but also his excellent line and technical drawing from his earlier days. If you lament the disappearance of the old treasured Cross art from the kits, then this book is for you. There are also quite a few anecdotes from his career and some unusual aircraft depicted. A good all round reference book, and nice eye candy too.

This is a BIG book5
...and therefore well worth the money. Roy Cross's work is known to many through his work on Airfix box covers. His talent as an illustrator shines through with the evocative and near photo realistic works represented throughout the book.

It also features some of his work for publications including Flight and Aviation Week and a number of one off commissions for manufacturers including the Hawker Aircraft Company.

It would be nice to see another volume of work by Roy or some of the other artists involved. After all there were an awful lot of Airfix models over the years....I would certainly buy something similar especially if it covered in more depth the rapid advances in jet aircraft from 1950 through to 1990.

A really nice book to own.
