Product Description

The authors combine the advantages of a colour atlas and a textbook. Each condition is described on a page or spread of pages, using highly structured text and integrated colour photos, radiographs and line diagrams. While emphasising more common conditions, the book is comprehensive, yet concise, and should become the standard quick reference guide to recognition and management of neurological problems.

Customer Reviews

Great medium sized neurology textbook4
Many neurology textbooks are difficult to read because they suffer from having pages and pages of unbroken text and lack of diagrams, figures and pictures. The refeshing aspect of this textbook (and its real strength) is that one can read about an entire condition in a matter of minutes, whilst retaining the essential facts that one really needs to understand and remember. The authors have done this by presenting the facts in a 'bullet-point' format, which suit many people but will no doubt irritate some. All the sections are consistent, well-researched, and up-to-date. There is a large number of clearly laid-out tables summarising important points, as well as many pictures to illustrate clinical signs and neuroimages - all these are invaluable.

Of course, it is not as comprehensive as other larger reference textbooks such as "Diseases of the Nervous System: Clinical Neuroscience and Therapeutic Principles" by Ashbury et al. (eds), or "Adams and Victor's Principles of Neurology ". However, if you do not have a lot of time to catch up on your reading, or if you want to read a medium neurology text book from cover to cover, then this is an excellent choice. It especially has a very comprehensive and authoritative section on vascular neurology, which reflects the special interest of the two eminent professors.
