So glad to see this book available again.. it's fantastic, and held my hand when I set up in business

Geoff's wisdom, enthusiasm and humour shine through on every page - and what really marks this book out is its down-to-earth quality - all that stuff about really examining your motives for wanting to be self-employed, the emphasis on keeping your costs down so you don't end up with huge loans, the stuff about making your business stand out... -it's all so true, true, true...

He also emphasises that it's not easy, and it's not for everyone.. there's a quote about how..'if you set up your own business, in a few years time you will be a different person' - well, I did and I am (better organised, more self-disciplined, more realistic, more thick-skinned)

But five years on I've also got a really nice life doing something I love and earning a very good living. I could never go back to being an employee.

Thanks Geoff!

The most impactful book I've ever read...5
I read a borrowed copy of this book back in 1997 when I was just 19 and it changed my life! Seriously, some of the many insights, such as, "You'll never be unemployed when you're self-employed - you may be broke - but never unemployed!", in this book have made a profound difference on how I've 'made my living' since.

There's no doubt that reading this book gave me the confidence to just go it alone and make my own way in the world! I left my job as an underpaid graphic designer and started my own business thanks to this book. It should be required reading for anyone just about leave school or college!

Great incentive to do your own thing!5
This is a fabulous book - it was an inspiration and a comfort to setting up on my own. Self employment is a complete minefield and this book was a great reference and bible for all of the mysteries of working for yourself!
