"Well done on your refreshing approach to leadership. I recommended your book to a large conference yesterday. Keep going – this world needs people like you." David Taylor, Author, The Naked Leader

'Short' does not mean 'light' in this case5
I love the clever way in which Phil Dourado has put this book together. Many management 'short' books fall into the easy trap of being 'dumbed down'. Phil's book is BOTH concise AND intelligent, inspiring, inductive and so on. In other words, he has 'dumbed up' the artform - not an easy thing to do. He does this using an 'all round learning' approach which brings the gurus into intimate contact with practical advice, exemplars of great leaders and pithy bits of wisdom, gathered from an extremly wide research base.

He even dares to start a book on leadership with a chapter on failure, something I know plenty about, having attempted to fly aging punk rocker John Otway round the world on a tour that would rival the cult movie 'This is Spinal Tap'.

Yes, you can spend 60 seconds reading this well organised book, but you can also spend many hours going deeper or reflecting on the insightful thoughts which Phil Dourado has brought together here. Rather than an 'I did it my way' book on Leadership, Phil Dourado offers you the chance to consider how to make the best of your own leadership style rather than trying to copy someone else's design aka Karaoke Leadership.

This book ROCKS, and I should know about that!

Brilliant common sense - an incredibly readable5
I've just finished my dipping in and out method of reading this fabulous little book. Yes you can read it cover to cover but there is no need. Browse the conetnts and look up an area that interests you. I loved Phils easy and fluid style ( and some times witty asides ). It's a very well researched book and Phil Dourado certainly gets about, meets lots of 'gurus' and keeps great notes. I also particularly liked the stories. They bring all the subjects to life and are a great metaphor for leadership in themselves. I thought it was thought provoking, confirming and stimulating. Many leadership writers should take a leaf out of this style and way of communicating. Brilliant.

Exceptional and straightforward5
Why has a book like this never been written before? The writing is clear and comprehensive. A very useful book which can assist everybody at all levels of management in all sizes of organization, business or otherwise.

There are two characteristics I would highlight;

(1) It is good sense in an easily accessible format - managers can use the straightforward manner in which it is written to get across their ideas in an effective and inoffensive way;

(2) It is useful for both managers and for people being managed - if somebody has a manager, they will often not understand why the manager is doing what they are doing, but after seeing some of the things mentioned in this book, they will better understand what management is about, and be in a better position to respond, and even implement their own decisions when necessary.

I am not normally gushing about books, but this one is exceptional in its ability to provide straightforward guidelines in an easy to understand way, showing methods that work.
