Product Description

Contemporary accounts and survivors' stories of the 'unsinkable' liner; The story of the sinking of the great liner, Titanic, has been told countless times since that fateful night on 14th April 1912 by authors and film producers alike, but no account is as graphic or revealing as those who were actually there. Through survivors' tales, and contemporary newspaper reports from both sides of the Atlantic, The Mammoth Book of How it Happened: the Titanic strips away the Hollywood gloss and tells the real story of the 'unsinkable' vessel. Here are eye-witness accounts full of details that range from poignant to humorous, stage by stage from her glorious launch in Belfast to the sombre sea burial services of those who perished on her first and only voyage.

Customer Reviews

excellent in-depth reading,engroses you from page 15
from the moment i started on page 1 i was hooked. The material used in the book was so in-depth that you actually felt like you were back in 1912 and you were reading the newspaper reports on the days following the event. The accounts from the survivors were extremly moving and i felt quite close to tears for them and the ones that they left behind. The work put into writing this wonderful book must has been quite exhausting as well as exhilerating. To anyone who is very interested in The Titanic this is a must read.

this book is amazing!5
All credit to Geoff Tibballs who has written yet another amazing Titanic book! This book has everything you could ever want in a Titanic book, it has survivors accounts, numerous facts and figures and even newspaper articles from 1912! If like me you are a titanic enthusiast, and are interested in everything about it then this is the book for you! Well worth 5 stars!(if you have just started getting interested in Titanic, i would recommend this book to you as it will leave no questions un-answered!)
This book is fantastic!

Tons of information!4
This book has so much information, I still haven't read it all! This is a great book, but it has NO pictures in it. What I found interesting was the list of survivors and reading about what the officers did next after Titanic and how they died in the end.
