Product Description

Thrown out into the snow on Christmas day, the smelly sprout comes up against a terribly rude Christmas tree, an awfully impolite snowman and, worst of all...a greedy fox. But will a chance encounter with someone as small as the sprout change everything? "The Smelly Sprout" is a Christmas classic. With deliciously witty illustrations and a story to touch the heart, this is a tale children and their parents will love. And one thing's for sure, love them or loathe them, you'll never look at a sprout in the same way again!

A culinary morality tale4
Sprouts are unloved both by adults and children, and it seems also by Christmas trees, snowmen and foxes. A seasonal cooking ingredient, the sprout only gets attention during Christmas time. This tale starts with the cooking of the Christmas dinner and ends with the sprout being eaten - at its behest, may I add.

The Smelly Sprout is a short story about being unloved, about being judged on appearances without ever being tried and tasted. But for every creature suffering from such preconceptions salvation is at hand, even for unjustly maligned sprouts.

Easy to read, or to be read, the story is well illustrated with simple drawings conveying the strong emotions of each subject. It is easy to follow for pre-school children, and the sprouts we had in our fridge now get a bit more of their sympathy. Published in a handy hardcover format that is both hardy and sized for childrens' hands, the book has benefited form a superior quality of paper and print. A bargain for its price.

Definately a favourite read for kids5
This is such a great book, just like the "We're going on a bear hunt" books et al, it has the repetative line every now and then, this one being "OUT SMELLY SPROUT". In fact it is so good, after buying one for a friends child I bought another to give to a school reception class as a gift. They really enjoyed listening to it.

It will not put off kids from eating sprouts (those like me that actually LOVE sprouts!) as it has a happy ending

A must buy

Super christmas read for KS1 and lower KS25
I have just recently read his book to my Y2 class and they loved it.It is a laugh out loud book with repeating phrases that the children can join in with on their own. I am lucky enough to have a visualiser in my class and was able to show the book on the interactive whiteboard as it is very small.
A super alternative to the traditional christmas stories and one that will be brought out year after year.
