When the UN called for the end of the British mandate and the partition of Palestine into two independent states. the RAF found itself under attack from both sides. Tracing the development of hostilities in the Middle East, this book covers the period from the establishment of the first proper Israeli Air Force in 1948 to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982. Israel's War of Independence against its Arab neighbours, the inevitable 'round two', the Suez Crisis of 1956, the Six Day War of 1967, the Yom Kippur wars of 1973 and the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982 are all detailed in this fascinating chronide of war in the Middle East.

disapointing
I have read several of osprey publishing "combat aircraft" books and has been very impressed by their standards. I was therefore delighted to hear that they would have a volume on the Arab-Israeli airwars. But unimpressed by the resoult when you compere it to other books of the same type. One volume on some 30 years of conflict is too little. Other volumes has been totaly devoted to just one conflict or even better only one warplane!! The scale profile artwork was the worst i have ever seen by Osprey and contained too few aircraft. A short historic overview like this does not belong in this series. If you could print one of say. just the 6 day war or "mirage sqn of the idf-af" Do better next time!!
Very disapointed
I'm very disapointed with that book of Mr. Aloni. Color profiles are very basic an too poor. The period of war covered is a light and poor overview of Arab-Israeli wars from 1947 and 1982. Even the photos contained in that book are too poor and you can obtain those photos everywhere.
Compared with another books of Osprey series, it not belongs to that.
