The highest scoring US pilots of World War 2 fought against the Japanese Army Air Force and Imperial Japanese Navy over the jungles of New Guinea and the Philippines. Flying P-38s and P-47s, men such as Dick Bong and Thomas McGuire won the Medal of Honor for their successes in combat in 1943-45. 'Twelve to One' is a rare document that details the 'tricks of the trade' employed by these men. This volume also includes biographies of the men whose tips for aerial combat make up the text, and the V Fighter Command Manual.

About the Author
Tony Holmes has worked as Osprey's aerospace editor since 1989, having previously served as an author/photographer for this publishing house in Australasia. He established the critically acclaimed and hugely popular Aircraft of the Aces series in 1994. An airbrush artist with years of experience, Chris Davey has become Osprey's principal illustrator of RAF aircraft, having produced the profiles for over a dozen books since 1994. His most recent work includes Aircraft of the Aces 38: 'Tomahawk and Kittyhawk Aces of the RAF and Commonwealth' and Combat Aircraft 31: 'Lancaster Squadrons 1942-43'. He is particularly adept at 'big' aircraft like the Halifax and Sunderland.

Very good title
Ok...almost every osprey title is good and some even excellent, but this one impressed me by its amount of information on so few pages. Condesed information usually puts me away of such titles, but with this one i got a very pleasant surprise and that is woth every pound/ euro you spen on it, i also recommend the Imperial Japanese Navy and Imperial Japanese Army aircraft of the Aces as a complement on this one, althought this book is specially dedicated to those interested in the less loved Pacific war
