Editorial Reviews
From the Back Cover
Be Wise Be Otherwise is the antithesis of The Little Book of Calm. Ironic, postmodern, funny and thought provoking, this little book will amuse and enchant.
'Kevin MacNeil's work ... has a freshness that sharpens and invigorates. He can be crisp and cool, and funny and warm, but he always hits the spot.' Michael Palin
'Not only talented and dedicated he is also original ... finding and making a literature in the clash and intersections of languages and cultures.' Andrew Grieg
Customer Reviews
Laugh out loud & be inspired!
Simply sublime. The pace of this gem of a book runs so smoothly that you can almost hear the sound of gentle drum and base spiriting you along. Although the format is similar to "The Little Book of Calm" - a phrase per page - this is a totally different beast. I found it at turns wise; bizarre; inspiring; mind expanding? and (quite often) simply daft.
"Be Wise.." has things to say about everything from the meaning of your life to what you hear when you lift a shoe to your ear ("hear the footprints?") and lots in between. I first felt the urge to pass my copy on friends about half way through my first read.
very wise & very otherwise!
a work of subversive genius! partly serious, partly hilarious, this is a book to make you laugh and think. these idiosyncratic gems should be on t-shirts and posters everywhere.
