From the Back Cover
The Great Metal Discography is the best guide to sonic extremity you'll find - with all the facts you need on amplified guitar abuse in all its multifarious guises: hard rock, heavy metal, thrash metal, funk metal, death metal, hardcore, grindcore, grunge, black metal and more.

This, the latest indispensable instalment from M.C. Strong, has got the lowdown on everyone who ever turned the amplifier up to eleven.

From the strains of Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild accompanying Hopper and Fonder easy riding, and the pioneering tunes of Led Zeppelin - right up to the present, with poppier outfits like Ash ans Wheatus, and the moral-majority-shocking goth metal of Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, this tome covers it all.

From Abattoir to ZZ Top, From Jane's Addiction To Joan Jett, Iron Maiden to Iron Monkey - with Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Blue Oyster Cult - The Great Metal Discography covers everybody in the metal world. There's even room for Bon Jovi (and the Bollock Brothers).

Martin Strong has updated his initial effort at cataloguing the heavy metal genre - and doubled it's size and scope. The second edition is twice the book.

It contains, as always, comprehensive band histories, US and UK chart positions, catalogue numbers, etc - and keeps the easy to use key's. In addition, each entry is classified into one of three categories:

Metal - acts like Black Sabbath and Guns N' Roses

Hard Rock - Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi

Hardcore/Punk - Iggy Pop, Dead Kennedys

Here Is Everything you need to know about everyone you need to know about in the heavy metal firmament. The Great Metal Discography is the metallers bible. Let's Rock...

"Comprehensive beyond the call of duty... This one's for hacks, fans, record shop personnel and anal retentives." - Uncut

"Your ideal gift." - Kerrang

"Strong has become proficient at quantifying the chaos of rock 'n' roll... In its vast sweeps it is an impressive work. For careful readers, anorak nirvana awaits." - The Times

"The discographical book every self-respecting Classic Rock reader should have on their bookshelf." - Classic Rock

Excellent guide to All that is Heavy4
This book really is indespensible if you have any interest in heavy metal music. All the bands that I have heard of are here and plenty more besides. Many of the albums are given a mark out of ten, and while I don't agree with many of the marks there are plenty that I do. The information about each band is very thorough and makes the book enjoyable to read. So why only 4 out of 5. Two reasons: 1. The stupid illustrations littered throughout the book, I would have preferred either photographs or else longer reviews. 2. Some of the albums in the book are not given a mark, while I agree with this decision when it comes to the endless compilation albums, in other cases there seems to be no reason for it. Having said all this, this really is an excellent book, and if I hadn't bought it, I would buy it tommorow

awesome volume5
This is a great reference guide to all that is HEAVY however an updated version is sorely needed to include some of the great bands and great new material released recently. Like Robin Trower's new CD Living Out Of Time. check it out at www.trowerpower.com
