Britain at War in Colour
This is supposed to be a book about colour images of Britain at war ('Unique Images of Britain in the Second World War" is the subtitle), but the authors have clearly got distracted from this idea and given the text priority. It is text which dominates. On page after page the pictures are reduced in size and pushed to the edge so that stories about the war can be fitted in - something for which you can buy dozens of other, better books.

And the design mistake of putting the captions underneath the pictures in white on black makes the book look like a history of cigarette billboard advertising.

There ARE a few pages which show how effectively the book might have been produced, but overall a wasted opportunity. Don't bother - buy the videos or DVDs instead.

Very Interesting
A good combination of colour images and first person text. Some of the images could have been better presented (size mainly) but none are poor.
