Crash Course5
The Rough Guides have come to mean a guarantee of accuracy and anyone starting to collect the Beatles would need to start here With this 400 pager already in its 2nd update there's everything here you need to know.
The Guide begins with a chapter called The Life & Music and takes up 74 pages divided into sub sections to describe the key moments and the records-this covers the period 1957 to 1970.
Next comes The Afterlife which covers the Solo Years up to page 180 this being further divided into each solo Beatle.
What comes next is the Beatles on Screen followed by description of the 50 Essential Beatles songs.
The rest of the pocket sized book is the Beatles as authors and artistes, the people and places associated with, and finally a section called Beatleology which is a listing of websites, cover versions, the songs written for others and general trivia
Enough really to make you want to become a fan

This is the best book I have ever read on the Beatles5
I have read perhaps 50 or so books on the Beatles. For all real Beatles fans this is a goldmine of information, stimulating opinions on everything from the Beatles recordings, group and solo, to where to visit when in Liverpool.

This is simply the best book I have ever read on the Beatles and there are many good ones. For instance his review of George's last album Brainwashed is sensitive and insightful and helped me enjoy the record even more. I am just back from a trip to Liverpool and where the author said were the best places to visit were literally that.

This book has given me literally hours of pleasure - well done Chris Ingham!
