Product Description

With over 30 per cent of women and 20 per cent of men in the UK on a diet at any given time and with rates of childhood obesity soaring there has never been a greater need for a complete and informed guide to dieting. This new edition of Judith Wills' bestselling "Diet Bible" has been completely updated with the most recent statistics, government guidelines and nutritional information. The first section of the book covers all aspects of weight, diet and body shape, in question and answer format; it also explains new concepts, terms and procedures such as 'Glycaemic Load' and 'smartlipo'. The second section is a handy A-Z listing of diet products, methods and programmes as well as examining the latest on such subjects as tea, coffee and chocolate. There is additional information on new drugs and natural supplements for weight loss. In addition the book evaluates various well-known diets including very low fat diets and those most appropriate for vegetarians. With all the latest thinking and the inclusion of completely new and most recently popular diets this is the book with all the answers to the increasingly vexed question of how to lose weight healthily and keep the pounds off.

Don't start your diet without it5
This large book does not offer magic solutions to weight loss and does not pretend to - unlike many diet books. Instead it offers sensible, practical help and advice about nearly every aspect of dieting you can think of. Its practical focus on dieting is non judgemental and expunges many of the myths that surround the industry of 'diets' and the propaganda about so called 'specialist' diets. The question / answer sections take some time to get used to until you realise that the questions are ones you would like answering - but maybe never asked all at once. There is a summary of the many different types of diets and a rating for their long term success (which is after all what you want) I cannot pretend that this book alone is responsible for my weight loss of some two and a half stone over the last few months - that would be silly - but I can say that it lead me the right way and taught me that diets are not about fads and quick fix solutions but about making the right choices and re-educating the way I eat. It is an excellent book to dip in and out of - keep it by the side of your bed and read a few sections occasionally to keep you on the straight and narrow. I cannot think of anything it does not cover - it even discusses diets for children. By all means buy other diet books - but you'll soon realise that this one is the one you'll turn to again and again.
