Tragic, moving, heroic, inspiring - an excellent book5
One of the few books I have read cover-to-cover. The book tells the story of the events leading up to the tragedy of 8 April 1968 and covers both the technical and personal issues. The description of the emergency landing of the burning aeroplane, the evacuation, the tragic circumstances surrounding those who did not survive and the sheer heroism of the flight crew (in particular the courage of Jane Harrison, who was awarded a posthumous GC)are all very moving - I challenge anyone to remain dry-eyed while reading it.
