Product Description

This positive and encouraging book acknowledges the anxieties and problems faced by trainee teachers within the Learning and Skills sector. It examines the questions of professionalism and values and ethics within the sector, using a variety of different theoretical perspectives to probe these key themes. In addition, everyday examples and case-studies are used to show such issues in context. It is ideal reading for anyone who wants to understand the trainee s responsibility to students, fellow teachers, managers and to other stakeholders.

Editorial Reviews

Review
Right up to date - including recent journal articles on professional identity/experience of trainee teachers. Clear concise summaries of reflective practice. A thoroughly useful, practical text. --Deputy Team Leader, Education - Truro College

Relevant and accessible - bang up to date in light of reforms to ITT. Excellent information regarding reflectiveness - can't think of any faults and a 'must read' for all HE students within teacher education. --Lead Practitioner, Cornwall College

Clear focus. It does not try to cover everything and that gives it some depth. New material and focus - not a re-presentation of material that can be found elsewhere. Learning Matters style- case studies, journal entries, reflective activities. Accessible to a new tutor. Useful resources for staff development teams and Teacher Trainers. --Senior Lecturer Post Compulsory Education, Oxford Brookes University

Customer Reviews

A good reference tool4
I would recommend this book to anyone who is doing their Cert.Ed or DTLLS.
Good reference tool. Great links to the new Overarching standards. I have been using Petty and Reece & Walker, this is far better.

Teaching in the lifelong learning sector1
I brought this book for my DTLLS PCE course and it is not that good. It is quite boring to read. I have hardly made any reference to it in my course assignments.Better off getting Practical Teaching a guide to DTLLS, Some really good advice and perfect for referencing for the assignments. Get this along with Taeching Today a Guide to DTLLS by L Wilson and Teaching Today by Geoff Petty!

Becoming a rofessional Tutor in the Lifelong Learning Sector.5
Another well written book by J. Tummons, easy to use for course work. If you are teacher training this is a must use book.
