Many trainee primary teachers are uncertain as to the place and purpose of RE in primary schools. This book is designed to alleviate such fears and give trainees the security and confidence to teach RE effectively. Trainees are encouraged to recognise their own religious position and understand how they handle their own beliefs and commitments in the classroom. In addition, they will learn how to be sensitive to children's religious viewpoints, allowing children to share their beliefs in a secure and supportive environment. A range of strategies help readers to provide engaging and appropriate RE across the primary age phase.

Editorial Reviews
Review
Encourages reflection which is a key focus in the module, I like the practical and helpful notes in bitesize chunks and useful cross-curricular links. --Senior lecturer, Sheffield Hallam University
This is a key text which is an excellent introduction to R.E. in the early years. It has a nice balance between theory and case study information which is easy for student teachers to follow. The layout of the book is easy to dip in and out of which students find very useful. --Lecturer, University of Ulster
This book provides excellent information for those planning the delivery of R.E. courses in institutions such as my own. I shall share it with the local authority advisor for R.E. as it should prove to be a valuable resource for teachers charged with the responsibility of co-ordinating the subject. --Lecturer, North East Wales Institute of Higher Education

Customer Reviews
A very useful guide for trainee teachers and NQTs
RE is one of those scary subjects that some teachers feel a little uncomfortable teaching. This book demystifies the content and gives a well rounded thorough critique of the subject and how best to teach it. A thoroughly worthwhile buy for any teacher.
