the only book that matters
After following the Clash for the best part of a quarter of a century i always found that the many books written about them fell short of telling the full story,i knew all the basics and most of the myths but this was never enough ,now with the release of this excellent book can the casual reader or hard core fan find out not only how the band met, formed, concieved their music, toured, conquered the states and ultimately imploded, but more importantly why it all happened, this book is the only one of its kind to go behind all the myth's and find out(as told by all who were there) just how four people can be in the right place at just the right time, and as such is a fascinating insight into not only the Clash but Rock'n' Roll itself.
A Cracking Biography Of The Only Band That Matters
This is a cracking read for anyone who loved the Clash, documenting each band member's life up to the day that they met and formed the most important band of their, if not every, generation. All the key players tell their side of the story and what a story it was! Pat Gilbert shows his expertise as a music jounalist as with great compassion as he tells it how it was, warts and all, from their modest beginnings through to their eventual demise and beyond. The book ends with an emotional epilogue bidding farewell to Joe Strummer; the man who changed so many of our lives. A must for anyone who this band moved and politicised with their words and music.
WHO WERE THE CLASH ?
In the first few pages you will find out more about who Joe (or John or Johnny or Woody) was and the rest of the group. This book trawls through their early lives, giving an insight into what made each character tick, and what made them the people they were. Extremely insightfull and well written. Well worth every penny and more!
