Product Description

Way back in 1979, terrified cinema-goers learned that in space, no one can hear you scream...the Alien had arrived. Then, in 1987, Arnold Schwarzenegger came up against "one ugly mother******" - the Predator. But ever since the Predator first stepped out of the jungle, sci-fi fans have wanted to see just one thing: Alien vs Predator, fighting it out on the big screen. Now, with the blockbuster movie AVP: Alien vs Predator, the wait is finally over! This is the essential companion to the film, written by the chief creature effects supervisors on the movie. Gillis and Woodruff's unique perspective makes this one of the most fascinating 'making of' books ever published, providing an in-depth look at how the Aliens and Predators were created. Packed with over 400 exclusive photos!

Review
Film Review Magazine, January 2005: "...this lavishly produced profile will not dissapoint fans of either creature."

About the Author
Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff, Jr are the co-founders of ADI: Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc. Having provided the Alien Creature effects for both Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection (Gillis and Woodruff also worked for Stan Winston on Aliens), ADI were asked to handle the Creature Effects for AVP. Woodruff also suited up again to resume his role as chief Alien performer for the new movie.

The best film book Titan have done5
If you're into creature effects then this is a must have for the collection. These kind of books are often let down by sloppy film stills and the new trend to bulk out half the book with the script. This one however has none of that, the photos are top notch, taken in ADI's shop. You get to see the sculpting, mould making, moulding and finished props. If Aliens and Preds are your thing and you want to see what goes on behind the scenes, then put this at the top of your Chrstmas list.

Beautiful book, a perfect companion to the film5
This book tells you about Amalgamated Dynamics Inc and their work on AVP creating the practical effects. Furnished with large, full colour photos this book details every part of the process from concept artwork to the full shooting models on set. There are hundreds of these photos, even studies comparing the different aliens and predators from the films showing which parts they kept or changed. It's a very detailed read and will take you a while to get through. The only problem is it's just about the practical work. A bigger book with behind the scenes info on both the CG work and practical stuff on the making of the film would have been better. However, this is an entertaining and visually arresting book, and since there's no other version around, I recommend you buy it.

Brings You to the Production Floor Literally5
This book is the tour guide to the production floor of Amalgamated Dynamics Inc (ADI), a studio specialize at creating creatures and effects.

Prior to reading this book, I thought all the creatures in Alien vs. Predator (AVP) were computer generated, but somehow they look too real to be products of 3D models. After reading the book, I have more respect for the people in the field of creating these creatures. They are good, very good.

You'll read about how the movie was conceived. There are numerous biography on the artists involved and the two founders of ADI.

Every single page of the book is filled with photos and captions detailing the process of creating the characters and bringing them to life on the big screen. It starts on the drawing board where sketches were done, the creature was then modeled into clay, photographed and made into mold, painted for textures and goes onto the set.

A lot of effort was put in the making of this book. You can tell just by the incredible number of photos taken and put onto the pages.

If you're a fan of AVP, this should be in your collection.
