Product Description

Here, at last, is the book his legions of fans have been waiting for. Kevin Smith, the legendary independent film-maker, columnist and cultural commentator, launches himself on an unsuspecting world with a series of hilarious rants on the absurdity of just about everything. Unlike his unforthcoming screen alter-ego Silent Bob, Smith is ready to let rip at maximum volume, whether it be on the madness of Hollywood, 'The Unholy Tale of Greasy Reese Witherspoon', his bloodcurdling hatred of Britney Spears or the highly-sexed comics industry. Along the way we get a shocking insight into the making of Smith's movies, and learn far more than is necessary about his bathroom habits.

About the Author
Kevin Smith sold his comic book collection to fund Clerks, and after the film became a huge hit he was able to buy them back. One of the most successful and critically praised independent film-makers of recent years, Smith has also written and directed Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Jersey Girl and the forthcoming sequel The Passion of the Clerks. Author of several hit graphic novels also published by Titan, this is his first 'proper' book!

This is not a biography4
It can't be said clearly enough that this is an unashamed, cash-cow collection of Kevin Smiths previous publications from various magazines and web sites. If you read Athena, then you've probably read much of this book already. However,I hadn't read Athena, and was thrilled by this entertaining collection of thoughts and insights.

An excellent light read for holidays, just don't expect a biography.

One to borrow...3
I can't remember the last time I read a book that started off so well and ended up annoying me so much that I didn't bother to finish it! Kevin Smith's disarmingly candid opinions and anecdotes are mostly hilarious here, right up until the toe-curlingly sycophantic Ben Affleck chapter. Smith then goes on to give Tom Cruise the same boot-licking treatment a few chapters later! It's probably worth bearing in mind that as a collection of previously published articles and interviews "Silent Bob Speaks" was inevitably going to be a bit uneven, though.

Don't get me wrong - I love his films, and this a very funny book in places. But if you want my advice, don't buy it - borrow it

Are You Kidding Me!5
One star! Where are you coming from? I read this in two sittings, I couldn't put it down. Whether you are interested in comics, films or just funny anecdotes buy this book now. Easily the best book of its type since Joe Bob Briggs Goes to the Drive In.

After you've read it buy the evening with Kevin Smith dvd, it's worth it for the segment about Jon Peters alone.
