Synopsis
This book includes a foreword by Nicola Maffulli, Professor of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, Keele University School of Medicine, and Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary and City General Hospital, Staffordshire. The new structure of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) examination requires candidates to complete two papers in extended matching question (EMQ) and multiple choice question (MCQ) format. This invaluable revision aid contains a 'bank' of over 350 questions in self-test format. Comprehensive answers are detailed at the end of each section. With a focus on high-yield topics, students can choose use the resource in the early stages as an overview of the subjects, then later as an ideal exam revision aid. There's nothing else like it! Specialist registrars preparing for the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) examination will find this an essential revision aid. It is also useful for Basic Surgical Trainees preparing for the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) examination.

Customer Reviews

Bedtime reading2
As the only book aimed at the new market of registrars preparing for the FRCS MCQ exam this is bound to be snapped up by people like me looking for any help they can get to get them through the exam. Unfortunately it soon becomes apparent that the questions are very basic and seem more suited to MRCS than FRCS(TR & Orth). While being an interesting read to break up the tedium of reading textbooks and the latest papers as the previous reviewer noted there are more challenging and I suspect appropriate questions available for the prospective exam goer. That being said if the questions are like this in the real thing then I'll be very pleased!

Poor1
Poor - but there is a not a lot of choice out there for FRCS orth preparation. Not a touch on Review Questions in Orthopaedics

Inadequate2
Al least somebody has made an attempt to provide MCQs for practice, but questions seem unusually easy. As a result, if used as the sole means of assessing one's exam preparation, this might lull an examinee into a false sense of security regarding their standard of knowledge.
