Average customer review:Product Description
Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) are commonly encountered at all levels of medical school including the final MBBS examination. OSCEs also play an important role at postgraduate level and are used to assess competency in the Foundation Years. One of the fundamental requirements of passing the OSCE is an understanding of the standard which is expected and an appreciation of how to demonstrate this. This book discusses 170 commonly encountered OSCE scenarios, with a step-by-step approach to maximise your chances of success in the examination. The scenarios are presented with sufficient background information to enable candidates to tackle variations. This comprehensive book, covering both surgery and medicine, overcomes any problems of a tick-box approach and insufficient detail faced by some alternative texts. The clear, straight-forward style and logical layout make this book perfect preparation for OSCE examinations.

Editorial Reviews
Review
'Comprehensive. Useful. Impressive. Easy to dip into and revise. I was particularly impressed. Easy to read and navigate. Outstanding. Clear, well-structured thought processes come through in this book. [The authors] are to be congratulated on this revision text which I am sure will have a place on the book shelf of every medical student, and probably every examiner! I could certainly have done with this book the night before I was asked to examine an orthopaedics station during a recent OSCE examination. --Justin Vale, in the Foreword

Customer Reviews
Good general revision book
This book reads like a textbook, providing a guide to what to ask or how to examine patients. Some of the sections are somewhat superfluous (especially the communication skills sections, where specific scenarios cannot cover all aspects of the skills) but generally this book is a good reference, especially for written skills such as prescribing.
Essential OSCE Companion
This is a very useful tool to aid medical students to hone their clinical skills towards passing their OSCEs. The sections on communication skills and management skills are excellent and go beyond what other OSCE books in the market offer. I will thoroughly recommend this book.
