Carol Clerk is a veteran rock music writer, author and an award-winning journalist. After many years at Melody Maker, she began writing for publications such as Uncut, Classic Rock and The Independent, and appearing as an expert in a variety of radio and TV programmes and DVD music documentaries. She has written and ghostwritten a dozen books. She lives in Rochester, Kent, England.

OLD SCHOOL!
Well written, thoughtful book that concentrates on the roots and beginning of modern tattooing. Only passsing mentions are given to tribal tattooing, but this is a good thing, as that is another book (or several books) in itself. Recomended.

Perfect gift for tattoo fans
Got this for my tattoo loving boyfriend for Xmas... This book is informative, interesting and has lovely illustrations. Great for someone with an interest in old skool tattoo designs or a perfect gift for someone looking for inspiration and ideas.

it is what it is
unusually 4 stars coz i enjoyed this but i have a tattoo background so it was good to read some stuff from old. you won't want this if you are trying to find a design for yourself but historically its good and worth the money
