Antony Beevor may get most of the sales, but when it comes to Berlin - the battle and the battlefield - few people know more about the subject than Tony Le Tissier.
The fighting for Küstrin in 1945 may be eclipsed in the English-language by other final battles in the Endkampf, but as Le Tissier shows, it was prolonged and brutal - the defenders showed no mercy to the enemy or to 'weaklings' within.
The author draws on a wealth of sources not seen before in English and the result is one of the very best books on the Ostfront and an absolute must for anyone studying the final battles in the East in 1945. It's also an excellent, if at times harrowing, read.
Overall a good book, for those interested with the Ostfront!
Overall a good book, a few interesting pictures, but mostly made up of after battle reports from survivors with minimum narration to move the epic along. Lacks emotional atmosphere to drive ones interest in the people involved. That's how Antony Beevor gets most of the sales!
