Customer Reviews

Finding your way in Ransome country4
This excellent book allows you to visit the landscapes of the books without actually having to go there. The Lake District is a compelling place and the work of the authors who have written about it exercises an appeal that lasts all our lives.

If you are too old to travel any more it is possible to read Mr.Wardale's book and still see the inspirations for the places that captivated us when we were younger. Much remains to be solved in the quest to pin down all the real places but this takes you closer than you can reasonably expect to go back into the land of the past.
Understanding Ransome's life and character is an extra bonus as you learn about the people and the places that shaped the northern part of his great series.
See also 'Another Country' which explores the settings of many other compelling and magical Lake District stories.
