Great guide for the budding connoisseur...
Anwer Bati is, to cigars, what "Mike Jackson" is to Whisky. For those of you who enjoy whisky with their cigars... you'll know exactly what I mean!
The book contains a great "easy-to-read" reference guide to all the mainstream cigars available at present with a quick glance guide to decipher the length and ring gauge from the various names used. A must for anyone who has just started smoking cigars.
Additionally, there are nice sections which details the history of the cigar smoking and a detailed description of manufacture. This talks you through everything from growing the leaves, the art of the "torcedores"(rollers) to the "escogedor" who will grade each final cigar according to colour before they are packed into boxes. There is also a small section giving some "watch outs" to be weary of when purchasing and storing.
For the novice there is also are nice "how to" sections on lighting and selecting something suitable for your palette. Anyway, these little details should be second nature to experienced smokers.
The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that the book is over 5 years old and therefore some of the newer brands and sizes are not listed. Understandably, some of the cigar retailers listed are no longer in business.
So, can we have an updated version please?!
