The discovery and development of fused plate, more commonly known as Old Sheffield Plate, played the major role from the 1750s to the mid 19th century. There is also extensive coverage of the 19th century process, electro-plating. The work includes advice for the collector on distinguishing genuine articles as well as drawings and photographs of marks, where used.
