Product Description

Dr Vogel came from a Swiss family where the secrets of herbalism were known and practised. From early childhood he was eager to learn about the healing powers of plants and bit by bit he collected and expanded the traditional and empirical knowledge of European folk-medicine. "The Nature Doctor" has become a recognised publication even amongst medical doctors and scientists. The British edition of this text, now fully revised and updated, comes complete with comprehensive appendices, offering the reader easy access to a wealth of information from the "father" of natural healing.

Customer Reviews

Excellent manual, however.....5
My rating of 5 stars is sincere. The 'however' is about my disappointment in how my copy, the jubilee edition from 2003 is rather useless - WHEN trying to find anything by way of the index. The index in that copy is so poor, I wonder what the publishers were thinking. Where other volumes of similar nature will list in obvious bold first what you are looking up (this indicates where main information on that can be found) in my edition, everything about whatever it is you want is listed in the order of appearance in the book. The bold is barely noticeable and the index is obviously computer generated and not intuitive enough.

I barely used it (jubilee edition) because it was a waste of time looking up every page listed for information. I good index will not list non-relevant or redundant references, or will have the barely relevant pages listed last. Unless I could find it in the table of contents, I rarely used the book because of this very frustrating issue. It is, afterall not a thin book to wade through.

But I am willing to give this new manual that seems to have appendixes and is completely revised (well, so was the jubilee edition) because it is such a valuable reference book based on this phenominal and exceptional naturopath. I sincerely hope the publishers got it right this time.

Apart from this issue, in my opinion it should be in everyone's library. It is an excellent guide not only for the healthful information it contains but also the 'why'. Let's hope this newer volume's appendixes and revised/updated version does A. Vogel's work justice.

A must for every medicine cabinet5
This book contains so much useful and outstanding advice and information that I personally believe everyone in the whole world should own a copy. If this information was taught in schools as health care we would change the world overnight.

There is practical help for taking your own health into your hands. Many common herbs and plant remedies are given for a wide range of ailments right from slug syrup for the lungs to nettle tea for the blood and onion poultices for sinuses (personally recommended by me too!)

If you are serious about living life without illness and tablet taking this is the book for you because it isn't just about making remedies but gives masses of advice and guidance on living a healthy life and avoiding disease in the first place.

I can't recommend it highly enough

Book good, Delivery awful!3
The book it is good I know it's second hand but could be in better conditions.
The delivery though was bad. Ok it was a bad week for the mail strike but still it had plenty of time to deliver and it took me two weeks to get it. I bought some other books a few days after this one and they came first!
I don't think it was just a mail strike problem!
