An in-depth investigation of how the Museum was first set up, how it worked and what it did, who took the decisions and why. It sets the story of the V andA in the context of the cultural history of the last 200 years and records its many trailblazing achievements.

Customer Reviews
A definitive book on the V&A
This book is superbly written, covering every element of the Victoria and Albert Museum's coloured history. It takes you from its earliest days, right up to 1999. It not only looks at the history of the building, but its collections and its reasons for existence. It is accessibly written, with pictures to illustrate the changing history of the museum.
This book is a definitive work on Britain's leading design museum, and if you are looking for a book that gives you everything you need to know about the V&A then this is it. I could not recommend a better book about the Victoria and Albert Museum's history.
