Fairground Candy and all the rides.
At the end of the school year I need to sit some where quiet with a good book. I work in an adolescent environment and that can twist my reality a few notches out of order. So it was with relief and amusement that I settled into Selima Hill's "Violet" on Saturday. The emotional landscape unfolds and swells, tilts, slides, and churns. But after each ride I am firmly back to Earth. Selima Hill has intellectually kept hold of the reins and held this collection of poetry together as an experience of being alive in an irrational world; It's quirky, unique, humor grabs you by the arm and excitedly takes you on a tour. The madness of the moment is unfrozen, fluid and unbroken the feelings reform and form again. And it all makes sense. Open this book and taste the Fair.
