Mentoring is an area of growing interest and importance in business circles, and has been widely publicised both in the business press and in the consumer press and radio and television.
In this important new guide, Mike Pegg goes beneath the surface, and examines what it really takes to establish a successful mentoring relationship - what the techniques are to encourage and foster success, and how corporations can encourage and develop the process to promote improved performance and job satisfaction among employees.
"This book shows why mentoring is going to be a vital ingredient in successful companies in the future. Mike's book is a great practical introduction to the subject." (Alan Deller, Managing Director, Air Miles.)
The Art of Mentoring provides a simple model for a complex art. The book offers framework that allows all those who work with people to structure their mentoring sessions in a way that will bring positive results.
Mike Pegg has been working as a mentor for the past 25 years. His clients include pacesetters in business, the arts and sport. A prolific author, his other books for Management 2000 include: The Art Of Encouragement, Positive Leadership and The Positive Workbook: How to make a living doing what you love.

Customer Reviews
A fabulously simple guide to the complex art of mentoring.
I have now read this book 3 times and, despite its simplicity, have found something new from it each time I've revisited. The clear structure, user friendly language and positive avenues for discussing difficult challenges will impact on anyone who works one-to-one or one-to-team. Mike guides the reader through a formula to ensure that the person(s) you are working with discover a workable solution to the challenges they face. I now use some gem from this book in just about every formal and informal meeting I hold. This holds equally for the time I spend with my employers as with my team members. The best part is that you are never the best mentor you could be! There's always something you could do better. Keep going back to the book and it will point you to how you can improve. As my career progresses on the path I choose, this guide to getting the best from myself and the people around me will continue to be indispensible.
The Art of Mentoring review
This is an excellent, pragmatic guide to mentoring. This is not a detached consultants view of the world, but is a practical guide based on real-life experience. I found this book extremely easy to read and use, and it's an uplifting experience. Buy this book.
You must read this book
Accessible, simple and profound. You must read this book if you want to improve the way you interact with your staff, customer or your boss. It would be easy to reject as superficial especially if you didn't do the exercises but, if you do, it takes on a whole new dimension because Mike Pegg has encapsulated the human interaction that is mentoring on the page. It is a workbook, it requires you to engage but the rewards are great. I read half of it on the way to a "counselling" meeting with a member of staff, altered my approach and achieved the most positive results for both me and for Sandra. I read the other half on the way home. What a great tool. Thanks Mike.
